„Lithuania 2.0“ is launched
New social network of i-democracy called „Lithuania 2.0“ launched aiming to be a bridge of communication between citizens and their representatives in government, says a press release.
Portal developers announce that Lithuania
2.0 is intended only for socially active, conscious people, but there is no lack of those corresponding to these criteria at all. During the first week the “Lithuania 2.0″ community was joined by more than half of a thousand of so-called portal Signatories, including some Parliament members among them.
„The simpliest statements are transformed into ideas which can be implemented using the project management tools of the portal, or become a civil initiative, which, after collecting the required number of signatures, goes into the hands of government officials directly. After the government start considering public concerns, we can state our opinion too, and compare it with the decisions of our representatives“ – the project team presents the capabilities of the portal. Currently portal “Lietuva 2.0” is supporting the first official initiative to facilitate the citizens’ legislative initiative process.
The new social network is one of the civic initiative‘s websites which are rising in popularity in European Union. By one of such sites the citizens of Latvia initiate the laws for almost two years, so do the Finns and other advanced countries. The citizens of at least seven EU Member States can electronically initiate the changes of European Union legislation.
Social network „Lietuva 2.0“ invites all active Lithuania to gather into one powerful mind, and to start the development of Lithuania as we want to see it, all together.“ Join „Lietuva 2.0“ and sign the first important initiative the adoption of which will make the citizens’ legislative process simpler, and will not require any financial funding – everybody who has something to offer will be able to initiate legislation“ – urges the creative group of the portal.
